Oklahoma is positioning itself as a leader in artificial intelligence (AI) by introducing AI degree programs at several universities. Rose State College, Southwestern Oklahoma State, and the University of Oklahoma will offer the state’s first undergraduate degrees in AI, aiming to meet the increasing demand for AI skills in the job market. Currently, over 19,000 AI-related jobs exist in Oklahoma, with a median salary of $106,000, and this number is expected to grow by 21% over the next decade. The initiative, backed by Governor Kevin Stitt and the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, seeks to prepare students for careers in machine learning, data science, robotics, and AI ethics, ensuring that Oklahoma remains competitive in this rapidly evolving field.
