Robotic Process Automation (RPA) once promised to revolutionize enterprise software by automating repetitive business processes, but it often fell short due to its limitations in handling dynamic and unique workflows. Now, the rise of generative AI might be the key to achieving the full potential of these systems. Seattle-based startup Tektonic is emerging from stealth mode, announcing a $10M seed funding round led by Point72 Ventures and Madrona Ventures. Tektonic aims to integrate generative AI with traditional symbolic methods to create adaptive workflow automation through natural language commands. Co-founded by Nic Surpatanu, a veteran of Tanium, UiPath, and Microsoft, the company’s platform targets tasks such as quotes and renewals, which are difficult to automate due to their variability across businesses. Surpatanu emphasizes that generative AI’s adaptability and contextual understanding can overcome the rigid limitations of traditional RPA. While current models are not yet reliable enough for fully autonomous operation, Tektonic’s approach aims to significantly improve process automation, reducing the need for manual intervention. The startup is in its early stages, collaborating with design partners to refine its system, with plans to evolve into a SaaS company in the coming years. For now, businesses can deploy Tektonic’s system within their virtual private clouds to start leveraging its capabilities.
