The retail industry is facing a significant challenge in meeting customer expectations, with too much information leading to abandoned purchases. However, emerging technologies like generative AI (gen AI) can help reduce the “noise” around decision-making, boosting loyalty and sales. Gen AI can act as a shopping advisor, providing personalized recommendations based on customer preferences. This technology can help solve the problem of evaluating product credentials and keeping customers within the brand experience. Accenture Song research found that companies applying gen AI to customer-related initiatives can expect to achieve 25% higher revenue after five years. In an interview, François Chardon, Marketing & Digital Director of Les Mousquetaires’ DIY chains, discussed how they’re harnessing gen AI to enhance the customer and employee experiences at Bricorama, one of their flagship home improvement brands. They developed pAInt, a virtual shopping assistant tool infused with gen AI, which provides recommendations and guidance throughout the purchasing journey. The tool has received positive customer feedback, with high engagement levels and useful insights on browsing and shopping trends.
