Cisco has announced a slew of updates to its AppDynamics observability platform, including the integration of a generative artificial intelligence (AI) assistant, new data science and machine learning algorithms, and single sign-on capabilities. The company also revealed plans to host AppDynamics on the Microsoft Azure platform and to replace its Cloud Native Application Performance Management (APM) platform with Splunk Observability Cloud. These moves signal Cisco’s commitment to providing comprehensive visibility and management capabilities across hybrid cloud computing environments. The integration of AI models and automation capabilities is poised to significantly simplify workflows and reduce integration costs for IT leaders. However, it remains to be seen how the acquisition of Splunk will contribute to the consolidation of IT platforms and how rivals will respond.
