Following the launch of an R&D center and the introduction of the AI Eraser tool, the Chinese electronics giant is doubling down on its AI strategy to democratize access to AI-enhanced smartphones. OPPO’s initiative is driven by a report from IDC predicting a surge in demand for affordable phones with generative AI capabilities, anticipating a 250% growth in 2024. With over 5,000 AI patents, OPPO plans to implement a hybrid AI approach that combines on-device and cloud-based architectures, ensuring seamless AI performance across various phone tiers. Collaborations with industry leaders like Microsoft, Google, and MediaTek will further bolster the AI features in upcoming devices.
