The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into our daily lives is inevitable, and experts believe it will soon become seamless and invisible, much like the computer mouse or cell phone camera. Markert, an industry insider, is convinced that AI will be so well-integrated that we won’t even notice it’s there. This is already happening in devices today, where many AI-powered features run in the background without us giving it a second thought. According to Markert, the role of employers is to design software that is enjoyable to use and produces results, with AI running quietly in the background. However, the increasing use of AI also raises concerns about manipulation and misinformation. A recent study by the Bertelsmann Foundation highlights the growing distrust of the media and politics, and the need for awareness of the risks of intentional misinformation. Markert acknowledges that manipulation is not new, but believes that journalists can stay one step ahead by being vigilant and working with big players to properly assign sources and recognize changes to images.
