Companies in the retail, consumer goods, and travel sectors stand to benefit significantly from the adoption of generative AI to streamline and enhance the purchasing journey, according to Accenture’s recent report, “The Empowered Consumer.” The research, which surveyed 19,000 consumers across 12 countries, including India, reveals a prevalent issue of “information overload” that leads to abandoned purchases. A staggering 88% of Indian respondents reported abandoning purchases due to overwhelming choices and excessive advertising. Generative AI offers a solution by reducing decision-making noise and enhancing consumer engagement, loyalty, and sales. The report highlights that consumers are eager for AI-powered solutions, with 82% of Indian respondents open to using conversational AI for shopping guidance. The technology promises to revolutionize the discovery, conversion, and loyalty phases of the consumer journey. By leveraging generative AI, companies can provide more personalized and efficient shopping experiences, ultimately driving business growth and capturing early mover advantages in an increasingly competitive market.
