In a recent video interview with Information Security Media Group, Nader Zaveri, senior manager of incident response and remediation at Mandiant, shared his insights on the impact of generative AI on blue team capabilities. Zaveri noted that despite the anticipated surge in phishing campaigns and ransomware attacks following the unveiling of ChatGPT, no significant increase has been observed. Instead, threat actors are advancing their techniques in malicious activities, particularly deepfakes, which require more human interaction. Zaveri emphasized that blue teams can counter these attacks by leveraging generative AI to create and analyze codes more effectively, even with less skilled individuals. He also highlighted the importance of detecting and mitigating deepfake threats, and discussed best practices for doing so. Overall, Zaveri’s perspective offers a unique spin on the role of AI in enhancing blue team capabilities and threat detection.
