The latest MLPerf 4.0 training benchmark has been released, showcasing record-breaking performance in machine learning and AI training. The benchmark, which is a vendor-neutral standard, has seen significant gains in performance, with some benchmarks showing a nearly 2x improvement in just six months. This is largely due to improvements in hardware, software, and network connectivity. The results highlight the importance of considering all factors that contribute to AI training performance, not just hardware. Nvidia has dominated the results, setting new performance records on five out of nine tested workloads, using the same core hardware platforms as last year. The MLPerf training benchmarks provide valuable insights for enterprises, demonstrating the importance of performance in driving return on investment.
