Dubai is swiftly becoming the world’s hub for artificial intelligence, with ambitious plans to train one million people in AI prompt engineering within the next three years. This initiative, dubbed the ‘One Million AI Prompters’, is the first of its kind globally and aims to develop expertise and skills that support global technological change. The United Arab Emirates, of which Dubai is a key emirate, is transitioning from an oil-based economy to an AI-driven one, with a goal of generating 40% of its GDP through AI by 2031. To achieve this, the UAE is investing heavily, has appointed the world’s first Minister of State for AI, and is attracting top scientists to the region. The ‘One Million AI Prompters’ initiative is critical in preparing the workforce for the AI era, as prompt engineering is predicted to be one of the most important skills in the future workplace.
The initiative has already gained international recognition, with global tech giants such as Microsoft, Google, and IBM participating in the first Global Prompt Engineering Championship held in Dubai. The championship received thousands of entries from around 100 countries, highlighting the broad applicability of AI tools beyond traditional coding. As the UAE continues to cement its position as a global AI hub, it is likely to attract more collaborations and investments from around the world.
