Amazon Web Services (AWS) has introduced its Generative AI Spotlight program, a four-week initiative aimed at supporting early-stage startups in Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) in building generative AI capabilities. The program is open to pre-seed and seed-stage startups with a minimum viable product (MVP) and qualifies for the AWS Activate credit program. With 25 spots available for Australia and New Zealand startups, the program will provide participants with access to AWS Activate, up to $100,000 in AWS Credits, and guidance from industry experts and innovators.
The program’s launch comes on the heels of AWS’ $230 million investment in AI startups globally, further solidifying the company’s commitment to supporting innovation in the AI/ML space. As AWS’ MD for Australia and New Zealand, Rianne Van Veldhuizen, noted, the program aims to help founders accelerate their understanding of and fluency with generative AI tools and services from AWS. With exclusive networking and learning events, participants will have the opportunity to tap into a community of experts and innovators from across the region.
The program’s focus on supporting startups in APJ is a strategic move, given the region’s growing importance in the AI/ML landscape. As Van Veldhuizen exclaimed, “I’m really excited about the potential of seeing the next Leonardo.Ai come from Australia or New Zealand!” With AWS’ track record of supporting successful startups, this program is poised to make a significant impact on the region’s AI ecosystem.
