As AI becomes more integrated into daily life, understanding its impact is crucial, especially in education. The challenge lies in assessing AI-assisted student work and determining its originality and the student’s true understanding. To address this, Coursera, Inc. has introduced new generative AI-powered features aimed at enhancing assessment creation, grading, and academic integrity. These tools include AI-Assisted Grading, Proctoring with Lockdown Browser, and AI-based Viva Exams, designed to maintain authentic learning experiences and improve the value of online courses and certifications.

Coursera’s CEO, Jeff Maggioncalda, emphasized the importance of providing Malaysian universities with tools to maintain high academic standards in online learning, thus ensuring a credible and verified education for students that employers respect. Additionally, Coursera announced a new course from Vanderbilt University, “Generative AI for University Leaders,” to help academic institutions navigate the rapid changes brought by AI. The course, taught by Professor Jules White, features experts like Andrew Ng and focuses on understanding GenAI, its significance, and strategies for its proper implementation in educational settings.
