Genspark, a new AI-powered search engine, claims to deliver higher-quality results than its predecessors by embracing a more surgical approach. It uses multiple specialized AI models to categorize users’ search queries and determine how to organize and present the results. The platform generates custom summaries, or Sparkpages, which provide a comprehensive overview of the search topic, including videos, tables of contents, and chatbots to field questions. Genspark’s creators believe their approach can solve the safety and accuracy problems plaguing other AI-generated overviews. However, the platform still faces ethical and legal challenges, including the potential to cannibalize traffic from sourced websites and the risk of plagiarism. Despite these hurdles, Genspark has secured a $60 million seed round and plans to introduce premium features in the future.
