Amazon is now extending its generative AI product listing tools to sellers in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the U.K. These tools, which have been available in the U.S. for some time, are designed to help sellers create and enhance product listings quickly by generating product descriptions, titles, and other details. Sellers can also enrich existing listings by automatically adding missing information. This expansion follows a quiet rollout in the U.K. earlier this month, with over 30,000 sellers already utilizing the AI tools. The technology allows sellers to input keywords or upload a product image to generate a listing, although Amazon advises thorough review to avoid inaccuracies due to AI hallucinations. The company highlights that its generative AI tools are continually evolving to improve listing effectiveness. However, the introduction of AI to European markets raises regulatory concerns, particularly with GDPR and the Digital Services Act, given Amazon’s history with data privacy issues. Amazon has yet to clarify the specific data sources its models are trained on, but it emphasizes the ability to infer product information from various data points. The company is actively developing new AI capabilities and plans to potentially extend additional functionalities to more markets in the future.
