The recent 2024 Generative AI State of Data Report by Hakkoda reveals that while 50% of organizations are utilizing AI for automation, sophisticated use cases like AI copilots, ETL/ELT, and schema matching and integration are significantly less common. The report highlights that the manufacturing sector is consistently outperforming other industries in Gen AI deployments, with high confidence levels in their use cases and internal capabilities to match. In contrast, education, government, and healthcare organizations lag behind in their Gen AI deployments and reported the lowest rates of confidence in having implementable Gen AI use cases.
The report surveyed 500 data leaders from large organizations across major industries and found that 74% of organizations intend to implement a centralized cloud platform in 2024, and 79% indicate the need for outside help to modernize. Furthermore, 48% of organizations said enabling Generative AI capabilities was a top reason for transitioning to a centralized cloud platform. The report also highlights the importance of organizational strategy in implementing Gen AI, with 95% of surveyed organizations saying Generative AI will be critically important to their success by 2027.
In my opinion, the report’s findings are a wake-up call for industries like education, government, and healthcare to prioritize their Gen AI strategies and investments. The manufacturing sector’s success in Gen AI deployment serves as a model for other industries to follow, and it’s clear that organizations that take a strategic approach to implementation will be the true winners of generative AI.
