The SEO platform SE Ranking recently conducted a comprehensive study analyzing 100,000 keywords to understand the shift in Google’s AI Overviews’ linked domains. The findings reveal a notable change: Google’s AI-generated summaries are now more likely to link to Wikipedia and LinkedIn rather than Reddit. This adjustment appears to be part of Google’s more cautious approach following some viral mishaps, such as the infamous suggestion to put glue on a pizza. Despite previous reports that Google had struck a deal with Reddit to use its content for training its AI models, Reddit no longer features prominently in the top 10 linked domains. This shift could signify Google’s prioritization of more stable and reliable sources for its AI-generated content. As Google’s AI continues to evolve, these changes underscore the dynamic nature of SEO and content prioritization strategies, reflecting a move towards authoritative and professional sources.
