Berta Rodriguez-Hervas, Stellantis NV’s vice president for artificial intelligence, algorithms, and machine learning, has become the latest high-profile executive to leave the company. Rodriguez-Hervas, a leader in the company’s growing software division, has resigned for a new job, although the details of her new role have not been disclosed. This marks another senior executive departure for the automaker, following the exits of Dodge and Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis, U.S. retail sales head Jason Stoicevich, Chief Customer Experience Officer Richard Schwarzwald, and former North America Jeep boss Jim Morrison.
While Stellantis has expressed gratitude for Rodriguez-Hervas’ contributions and confidence in their talent development and succession planning, the string of departures raises concerns about the company’s ability to retain top talent. Rodriguez-Hervas’ expertise in AI and machine learning will undoubtedly be missed, particularly given her work on developing autonomous vehicle technology and building teams to work on such projects. Her departure also highlights the challenges faced by traditional automakers as they attempt to transition to software-driven companies.
