Days after the Wall Street Journal reported that Apple and Meta were discussing integrating Meta’s AI models into Apple devices, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman revealed that Apple has no such plans. Brief discussions took place in March when Apple was exploring AI integration with various companies, but the idea of using Meta’s AI was abandoned due to privacy concerns. Apple has consistently criticized Meta’s privacy practices, and a partnership could harm Apple’s reputation. Instead, Apple has launched its own suite of AI features under the Apple Intelligence brand and partnered with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into its ecosystem. This deal with OpenAI is non-exclusive, as Apple is open to incorporating various AI models, including a confirmed collaboration with Google to deploy Gemini. Meanwhile, Meta will continue to leverage its own platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, and Messenger to deploy its AI, recently launching the Meta AI chatbot in India.
