In a landmark deal, Nvidia has partnered with Qatari telecoms group Ooredoo to deploy its artificial intelligence technology in data centers across five Middle Eastern countries. This move marks Nvidia’s first large-scale launch in the region, allowing Ooredoo to provide its clients with direct access to Nvidia’s AI and graphics processing technology. This partnership is significant, as it bypasses the US restrictions on exporting sophisticated chips to the region, which were put in place to prevent Chinese firms from accessing the latest AI technology through Middle Eastern countries. Ooredoo’s CEO, Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo, stated that this deal will give their clients a competitive edge, with access to services that their competitors won’t have for another 18-24 months. The deal’s value remains undisclosed, but it is part of Ooredoo’s larger plan to invest $1 billion in boosting its regional data center capacity. This move is a game-changer for the region, as it brings cutting-edge AI technology to the doorstep of Middle Eastern businesses.
