OpenAI, the artificial intelligence powerhouse, has made another strategic acquisition, purchasing Multi, a startup that developed a video-first collaboration platform for enterprises. This deal comes just days after OpenAI acquired database tech firm Rockset, further solidifying its position in the enterprise solutions market. Multi’s team of around five people, including CEO Alexander Embiricos, will join OpenAI, bringing their expertise in video collaboration and remote team work. The acquisition is seen as an acquihire, with Multi shutting down on July 24. This move is part of OpenAI’s broader strategy to invest heavily in enterprise solutions, which has already shown promising results, with the corporate tier of its ChatGPT platform boasting close to 600,000 users, including 93% of all Fortune 500 firms. The question now is whether we’ll see a future version of ChatGPT with videoconferencing and remote collaboration capabilities, which wouldn’t be surprising given OpenAI’s aggressive expansion into the enterprise space.
