Scheduled for full deployment by August, Target Corporation’s new AI tool, Store Companion, aims to transform the retail experience for over 400,000 employees and millions of customers. The innovative AI chatbot, accessible via an app on staff handheld devices, will streamline daily tasks such as answering procedural questions and coaching new team members. This tool promises to reduce downtime, increase productivity, and improve customer service across nearly 2,000 Target stores. Currently being piloted in approximately 400 stores, the AI technology is receiving feedback for refinement before its nationwide launch. Store Companion aligns with Target’s strategic vision of leveraging advanced technologies to create a superior shopping environment. By automating routine tasks, the tool enables employees to focus more on personalized customer interactions, enhancing overall satisfaction and loyalty. In addition, Target plans to use generative AI to improve product descriptions and customer review summaries, further aiding shoppers in making informed decisions. This forward-thinking approach is expected to set new standards in retail operational efficiency and customer service.
