OpenAI’s ChatGPT is now available for all macOS users, making it easier to access the AI chatbot directly from a Mac computer. The app was announced ahead of Apple’s WWDC 2024 and comes with seamless integration with Apple’s operating systems for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Mac users can quickly activate ChatGPT using the keyboard shortcut Option + Space. This new feature allows users to chat about emails, screenshots, and anything on their screen, creating an intuitive and familiar experience. The app overlays a chat interface on top of the screen, making it easily accessible. The launch coincided with the announcement of GPT-4o, a more advanced generative AI model capable of handling text, speech, and video. The app supports both free and paid users and includes features like uploading files, discussing screenshots, and searching past conversations. Initially available to Plus subscribers, the app is now accessible to all Mac users. Additionally, OpenAI and Apple announced broader integrations that will bring ChatGPT to iPhones and iPads, enhancing functionalities like Siri and Writing Tools, powered by GPT-4o, which will be available later this year.
