NBC is rolling out a unique feature for the Paris Olympics on Peacock, where an AI-generated voice of legendary sportscaster Al Michaels will deliver daily, personalized recaps. Users can customize their recaps by providing their name and selecting up to three sports and two types of highlights. NBC ensures quality by having a team of editors review all AI-generated content. The voice was trained using Michaels’ NBC appearances, and the experience was developed in-house. The technology aims to create an engaging, personalized experience for viewers, potentially generating nearly 7 million unique clips in the U.S. during the games. This innovative approach highlights NBC’s commitment to leveraging AI for enhanced viewer engagement. The AI Al Michaels recaps will be available starting July 27th in supported browsers and the iOS and iPadOS apps, with personalized content beginning July 28th. NBC has not confirmed if the feature will be available on Android.
