Carnegie Mellon University has launched a seed grant program to support the development of generative AI-enabled educational tools, with 43 proposals submitted by 87 faculty members across seven schools and colleges. The program aims to foster new research, test and deploy innovative tools to enhance education, and position awardees to secure additional funding for furthering their work. Three proposals were selected for funding, focusing on AI-enhanced writing studios, multimodal feedback generation, and virtual voice coaching.
