Mustafa Suleyman, the new CEO of Microsoft’s AI group, has been working closely with a select group of senior executives during his initial months in the position. Suleyman, who co-founded DeepMind and led Inflection AI, oversees consumer AI products such as Microsoft’s Copilot chatbot and Bing search engine. An internal Microsoft tracking tool reveals that 12 executives report directly to him, including Inflection co-founder Karén Simonyan and several long-time Microsoft veterans. Among those frequently collaborating with Suleyman are Yusuf Mehdi, the consumer chief marketing officer; Kevin Scott, the chief technology officer and EVP of AI, credited with Microsoft’s partnership with OpenAI; and Amy Hood, the CFO involved heavily in AI strategy. Rajesh Jha, EVP of experiences and devices, and Caitlin McCabe, CEO chief of staff, are also on the list. These collaborations indicate a strategic alignment focused on integrating AI across Microsoft’s consumer and business products, aiming to solidify the company’s leadership in AI technology.
