Windward has unveiled a groundbreaking generative AI-powered virtual agent, MAI Expert, designed specifically for the maritime sector. This innovative tool leverages foundation models from Amazon Bedrock, combined with Windward’s own maritime logistics data, to provide more accurate and relevant responses. The primary goal is to reduce vessel screening and investigation times, while introducing new automation capabilities. Initially, MAI Expert will be integrated into Windward’s vessel profile, where it will analyze various risk parameters, including global regulatory risk indicators, P&I insurance, and customer-defined settings, to generate vessel profile risk assessments. The agent can also scan news outlets for adverse media, draft external communications for further inquiries, and provide actionable recommendations. According to Ami Daniel, Co-founder and CEO of Windward, this technology is a key step in revolutionizing global trade with AI. In my opinion, this development has the potential to transform the maritime industry, streamlining processes and enhancing productivity.
