The increasing sophistication of deepfake technology has led to a surge in scams, with fraudulent job seekers using AI-generated faces to dupe companies out of signing bonuses and sensitive information. In response, some Fortune 500 companies are turning to GetReal Labs, a company founded by renowned deepfake expert Hany Farid, to detect and prevent these scams. GetReal Labs’ software uses a suite of tools to analyze images, audio, and video for signs of manipulation, and can even spot clues that may indicate a face has been artificially generated and swapped onto a real person’s body in a live video call. The technology is a crucial step in combating the growing threat of deepfake fraud, which has already cost companies millions of dollars. As AI advances continue to make deepfakery more convincing and accessible, the need for effective detection tools has never been more pressing.
