Google is enhancing its Vertex AI platform by integrating more third-party models, providing enterprise customers with greater freedom in building applications. Following its recent inclusion of Anthropic’s Claude 3.5 Sonnet to Vertex AI, Google announced it will support Mistral Small, Mistral Large, and Mistral Codestral starting this July. These models will be accessible through Vertex AI Model Garden, giving developers more choices in their AI toolkit. Recognizing that its own Gemini models may not meet all needs, Google is prioritizing the inclusion of popular LLMs to better serve organizational requirements. This move follows a history of collaboration, as Google and Mistral previously integrated Mistral-7B into Vertex AI Notebooks in 2023. The current expansion marks a significant milestone, allowing broader access to Mistral’s models beyond Notebooks. This development is also a substantial win for Mistral, which recently secured $640 million in funding, solidifying its reputation as a trusted AI vendor.
