The inaugural Hong Kong Artificial Intelligence (AI) Educational Expo, held at the University of Hong Kong, marked a significant milestone in promoting AI literacy and awareness among educators, students, and the general public. The event, supported by the UGC Inter-Institutional Collaborative Activities scheme, brought together 30 Edtech companies and organisations, attracting over 700 participants from various institutions. The Expo featured the launch of Professor Cecilia Chan’s new book, “Generative AI in Higher Education: The ChatGPT Effect”, which explores the transformative role of AI in pedagogy and research. The event highlighted the importance of responsible and ethical use of AI, with Professor James Tang, Secretary General of the University Grants Committee, emphasizing the need for educators to incorporate values that promote responsible navigation of the digital landscape. The Expo was co-hosted by several universities and units, showcasing the collaborative effort to promote excellence in teaching and learning. As AI continues to shape the education landscape, this event serves as a beacon for innovation and responsible AI adoption.
