Wimbledon and IBM have unveiled a revolutionary new feature, “Catch Me Up”, which leverages match data and Generative AI from IBM’s watsonx platform to provide fans with personalized, AI-generated player stories and analysis. This innovative feature will display pre- and post-match player cards, offering insights into recent performance, likelihood to win predictions, and key statistics. The feature will also create daily summaries of play, ensuring that fans stay up-to-date on the world’s leading players as they advance through The Championships. What’s more, the feature will use Generative AI to provide coverage of a broader range of matches, including wheelchair events, catering to Wimbledon’s diverse international audience. This marks a significant step forward in the use of AI in sports, and I believe it will greatly enhance the fan experience.
