The results of Quacquarelli Symonds’ Generative AI Pulse Survey are nothing short of astonishing, revealing that a staggering 80% of tertiary and graduate students worldwide have utilized generative artificial intelligence in their studies. The survey, which garnered responses from 1,663 students and academics, sheds light on the pervasive presence of AI in academic settings, with 51% of respondents relying on OpenAI GPT, the most popular AI tool among students. What’s more, 37% of students claim to be moderately familiar with generative AI, while 49% have used it for personal projects, 41% for language learning, and 38% to craft their resumes. Interestingly, 60% of students view AI’s role in society as positive, while 24% harbor fear towards the technology. As AI continues to shape the educational landscape, it’s clear that students are embracing this technological revolution, with 74% expressing interest in reading about generative AI.
