India hosted the ‘Global IndiaAI Mission’ summit, emphasizing the government’s commitment to democratize artificial intelligence (AI) and make it accessible to all. The summit saw participation from over 2,000 global AI experts, policy-makers, practitioners, industry leaders, startups, and academia, with an additional 10,000 AI enthusiasts joining virtually. The event highlighted India’s intent to build an inclusive and robust AI ecosystem and lead global AI innovation. Collaborative sessions focused on overcoming the global AI divide, especially between the Global South and North. The summit led to the consensus on the future vision of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) and provided deep insights into the IndiaAI Mission. The mission, with an outlay of Rs 10,372 crore, includes Rs 2,000 crore to support Indian startups in developing indigenous AI solutions. This support extends to addressing issues like compute, dataset, skills, and providing subsidized access to GPU infrastructure. India’s AI competitive advantage stems from its skills, market, and demand, making the IndiaAI Mission a catalyst for lowering costs and fostering innovation.
