HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has developed an innovative AI translation service called AI Agent to support foreign workers in their shipyards. This technology aims to bridge communication gaps and enhance workplace safety. The AI Agent utilizes generative AI and has been implemented at the HD Hyundai Samho shipyard in South Jeolla Province.

Key details:

  • Currently supports four languages: Vietnamese, Uzbek, Nepalese, and Thai
  • Plans to expand to 11 languages
  • Integrated with the company’s messaging app, Team Up
  • Developed using 13,000 industry-specific terms and 4,200 instructional sentences
  • Set to be implemented across all HD KSOE shipbuilding subsidiaries by year-end

This technology addresses the limitations of existing translation services in handling specialized terminology and industry-specific dialects. The AI Agent is designed to evolve, with future versions incorporating voice-to-text translation and real-time voice translation capabilities. By improving communication, HD KSOE aims to enhance workplace safety and help foreign workers adapt more easily to their work environment.
