The Rise of Generative AI in Enterprises

Generative AI (GenAI) has become a top priority for 97% of enterprises worldwide, according to a new study by the Enterprise Strategy Group. U.S. companies are leading the charge, being 35% more likely to consider GenAI their top priority compared to their European counterparts. This surge in interest is driven by the potential of GenAI to enhance accuracy, keep pace with technological advancements, and meet compliance requirements.

Key Challenges and Infrastructure Gaps

  • Only 37% of respondents feel confident in their company’s infrastructure for GenAI implementation
  • 88% of organizations have initiated cross-functional collaboration to better utilize GenAI
  • Security, cost, and data quality are the top concerns for managing GenAI projects
  • 86% of organizations are exploring retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) solutions

The Path Forward for MSPs and Enterprises

Despite the enthusiasm for GenAI, most organizations lack the necessary infrastructure and policies for successful adoption. This presents a unique opportunity for Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to address these gaps and help their customers build a strong foundation for GenAI implementation. By focusing on data security, quality, and flexible infrastructure components, MSPs can guide enterprises towards realizing the full potential of GenAI. As the market evolves, there’s a growing trend towards open-source models, with 96% of companies seeking alternatives to proprietary large language models. This shift highlights the need for cost-effective solutions in the early stages of adoption, while also recognizing the long-term value of proprietary models for maintaining a competitive edge.
