Captions, a video editing app supported by a16z, Kleiner Perkins, and Sequoia Capital, has introduced a new feature that automatically enhances unedited videos with custom graphics, zooms, music, sound effects, transitions, and motion backgrounds. This feature is tailored for vertical videos featuring a single person speaking. Captions also offers AI avatars that can generate videos from short prompts, which can then be edited using the new feature. Co-founder and CEO Gaurav Misra, inspired by his stint at Snap, aims to simplify the video creation process for effective communication. Captions provides top-tier camera tools, AI-powered editing, and generative video creation without needing to record. Currently, the app includes 12 AI characters, with plans to expand. Misra envisions these tools being used in sales, marketing, and communication. Despite concerns about AI flooding social media with content, Misra believes unique, compelling messages will still stand out. Future updates will include features like skits between AI avatars.
