MagicSchool AI, a startup building generative AI tools for educational environments, has closed a Series A round of $15 million led by Bain Capital Ventures. The company aims to use the funds to continue building more tools for both teachers and students, signing on more customers, hiring talent, and more. MagicSchool’s founder and CEO, Adeel Khan, believes that generative AI has the potential to revolutionize the education sector by providing teachers with tools to plan lessons, write tests, and produce learning materials more efficiently. The company has already gained traction with around 4,000 teachers and schools using its products. Notable investors, including Adobe Ventures and Common Sense Media, have backed the company, seeing the potential for AI to transform the education sector. However, experts caution that there are limitations to how AI can be used in the classroom, and that a hybrid approach encompassing both AI and humans is necessary. The company’s focus on customizations and user-friendly interfaces has helped it overcome initial skepticism from teachers.
