Stan Beliaev and Yurii Rebryk saw a gap in language learning resources for near-native English speakers and launched Fluently. This AI-driven platform provides personalized feedback on spoken English, focusing on improving pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary. Unlike similar tools, Fluently analyzes real-life calls, such as Zoom meetings, to offer practical advice. Users can also practice with AI coaches for daily conversations or mock interviews, beneficial for non-native professionals seeking to enhance their communication skills. The founders estimate an addressable market of 84 million non-native English-speaking employees, which helped them secure a spot in Y Combinator’s winter 2024 batch and raise $2 million in seed funding. The team’s strong tech background and personal need for the product give them a unique edge in development. Fluently prioritizes privacy by storing data locally and using encryption. Currently in beta and available only on MacOS, the platform plans to expand with a Chrome extension and additional features inspired by apps like Duolingo.
