In the heart of New Mexico, scientists at Los Alamos National Laboratory are pioneering a technological shift that could change the world. With over 100 projects leveraging artificial intelligence, the lab is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. From predicting ocean currents to improving mental health, AI is being harnessed to drive progress in science and technology. The lab’s AI Office Council Director, Jason Pruet, emphasizes the potential of AI to qualitatively advance health, unlock new energy sources, and enhance global security. With the establishment of a new AI council, the laboratory is taking a proactive approach to regulating and safeguarding this powerful technology. As Pruet notes, “we’re seeing advances that we would not have expected to see in 20 years or 50 years in some cases.” This is a game-changer, and Los Alamos is at the forefront.
