Mexico is poised to capitalize on its high-tech exports, ranking ninth in the world, and its strong professional technical and research capacity in AI. Despite receiving less venture capital investment in AI compared to the food and beverage industry, the country has a solid regulatory framework for privacy, transparency, and access to information rights. However, it needs to address the underrepresentation of certain groups throughout the AI lifecycle stages and digital representation, particularly its 68 national Indigenous Languages. Recommendations include launching a single digital identity system, implementing an open data policy, and promoting diversity and representation. With the right strategies, Mexico can overcome its investment gap and become a leader in AI development.
