The AI Revolution’s Hidden Hurdles
The rapid adoption of generative AI tools is set to create long-term challenges for businesses’ existing technology infrastructure, according to new research by Console Connect. This global study, covering 1,000 CTOs and senior IT leaders across five countries, reveals a significant gap between the enthusiasm for AI adoption and the readiness of current network infrastructures to support it.
Key Findings:
- 76% of global respondents believe rapid AI adoption will have long-term effects on their tech infrastructure planning
- 69% globally say their network infrastructure lacks the capacity to fully embrace generative AI
- 76% of IT teams worldwide feel increased pressure to adopt generative AI
- In Singapore, these figures are even higher, with 82% concerned about long-term infrastructure impacts and 81% lacking adequate network capacity
Implications for Business and Technology
The research highlights the complex interplay between AI adoption and network infrastructure. As companies rush to implement generative AI, they face increased data volumes and the need to move this data between private and public clouds. This shift introduces greater cost and complexity to enterprise networks, necessitating a re-evaluation of cloud access strategies. Security concerns also loom large, with 58% of Singaporean respondents believing AI adoption could increase their network’s vulnerability to cyberattacks and data breaches.
